THE LUCKY SEVEN

Lucky me!  I've been tagged by two of my fave bloggers/authors, Susan Buchanan and Rachel Kall.

Here's the challenge:

Post 7 lines from an unpublished work of fiction by following these rules:

Go to page 7 or 77 in your current manuscript.
Go to line 7.
Post the next 7 lines or sentences on your blog as they are (no cheating, please!)
Tag 7 other authors to do the same.

Okay, so here are my 7 lines from my soon-to-be-released Chick Lit novel (I'm not revealing the title until early July, so stay tuned for that!)  Just so you know, the heroine of this book, Pilar Alvarez, is a psychologist.  In this scene, she's talking to a patient who has some intimacy and commitment issues.

"That's excellent.  By refraining from casual, impulse-driven sex, you're showing more respect for yourself, as well as the women you encounter.  The next step is for you to start viewing women as something other than sex objects.

Mitch looked confused.  "What else are they?"

Somewhere on the planet, Gloria Steinem let loose a primal scream.

"Women can be many things:  colleagues, friends, mothers, partners, teachers . . ."

And here are the Lucky Seven I'm tagging:

I look forward to reading your 7, ladies!

  2. Tracie, loved it! Can't wait for the release of your book & hosting you on my new author feature on my blog (just need to write the questions now!). Hanging head in shame here, as had no idea who Gloria Steinem was and had to Google her. Am hoping this was just an American reference, that I wasn't expected to know! In any case, I got the gist of it. Well done that girl !

  3. Great lines, Tracie. I especially loved the one about Gloria Steinem - made me laugh out loud! Now I'm intrigued about what you will choose for the title... I'm looking forward to reading this one too.
